Prayers in The Wind Ladakh

Day 1

Arrival at Delhi

Arrival at Delhi and meeting with a representative of Lotus India Holidays and transfer  to hotel for your journey prayers in the wind Ladakh.

Day 2

Delhi - Srinagar

Departure with domestic flight to Srinagar. At Srinagar airport you will be met by a Lotus India Holidays representative that will assist and lead you to your hotel. Free time at disposal.

Day 3


Morning visit on a shikara on Dal lake to floating gardens, flowers and vegetable markets. Old city visit to Jama masjid and sufi shrine of Makhdoom Sahib and (from outside) at Khanqah Shah-i-hamadan mosque. Afternoon free.

Day 4

Srinagar - Kargil

Leaving Srinagar (1730 mt) on the old Trans Himalayan caravan route lead us through beautiful mountain sceneries crossing verdant valleys to the region of little Baltistan of which the main city is Kargil (2740mt), necessary halt between Srinagar-Leh road. This way also give the chance to have a good acclimation to the heights of Ladakh.

Day 5

Kargil - Lamayuru

The road from Kargil climb until Mulbekh where a 8m high statue of Maitreya Buddha signs the border from verdant Kashmir to Buddhist ascetic mountain desert of Ladakh. Still few chilometres and after overcoming the highest pass on this road, the Fotu-La (4095mt) the view will open to what is perhaps the most incredible of the monasteries of Ladakh : Yungdrung Gompa of Lamayuru is spectacular from any where you look at the backdrop of mgged mountains to crown him. Sleeping here will give the chance to observe the monastery with the best light at sunset and morning and assist at pujas.

Day 6

Lamayuru - Ridzong - Alchi - Likir - Leh

Will leave Lamayuru along the scenic valley of the moon where the rocks have strange limestone formations. After the dusty village of Khalsi, through a small side road carved in an arrow gorge until reaching the amphitheater where Ridzong monastery is located. Nice views from serene rooftop terraces. On the way back to Leh we’ll visit Alchi monastery, on the shores of river Indus, famous for the old paintings in pretty good shape that dates back to 11th century. On the other side of the lndus we’ll reach the rural peaceful oasis of Likir, dominated by its spectacular monastery and guarded by the giant golden statue of Maitreya (23m).
The road towards Leh give us the chance to see the junctionof lndus with Zangskar, two mighty rivers with different watercolours. And again the road will board mountain striated bythe time overlooking the lndus River. We will finally reach Leh, the main town of Ladakh and administrative center.

Day 7

Leh - Thiskey - Chemrey - Hemis - Leh

Today’s visit include some of the most spectacular monasteries east of Leh. The monastery of Thikse dominates with its imposing size the Indus valley. From the roof you can enjoy sweeping views and the frescoes and paintings on the walls are remarkable. We will proceed next to Chemrey in an extremely scenic scenery in the midst of farm land on the edge of a barren valley.
The day ends with a visit at Hemis monastery, famous for its annual summer festival. Along the way, you can also admire the monastery of Stakna overlooking a bend of the river lndus.

Day 8

Leh - Khadung-La - Nubra Valley - Sumur

Early in the moming we will leave Leh for the climb to Khardung-La pass that is said, is the highest road pass in theworld (5600mt).
As you ascend the views become widen extending to the edged with snow mountains of Leh. Once reached the Khardung-La, lots of prayer flags, a simple café where to drink a hot tea and take the usual witness photos On the way down, the Nubra valley starts to reveal itself only after passing the green plots of the Khardung village. Even here, as a background of the large bed of the Shyok river, wild snow-capped mountains.Dinner and overnight at the fixed tented camp at the quiet blooming oasis of Sumur.

Day 9

Sumur - Hunder - Diskit

After a peaceful short morning walk at Sumur we will proceed to Diskit to visit its Gompa, the biggest and oldest monastery in the Nubra valley. Its superb location and the views from the roof on the Shyok valley are magnificent. Alongside the monastery has been recently built a large statue of Maitreya Buddha. A few miles beyond Diskit is located the peacefu lvillage of Hunder in a valley characterized by undulating stretch of sand dunes crossed by peaceful Bactrian camels.

Day 10

Diskit - Khardung-La - Leh

Return towards Leh retracing our steps towards Khardung-La pass. Before reaching Leh we will stop for a look at the suggestive Tsemo fort, who dominates Leh. Once back to the city, free time for personal activities in bazar area.

Day 11


The last day in Ladakh is for the visit of Leh and will include the Leh Palace, the Old town. the Jami masjid and the ascent to the white Shanti stupa of Changspa. In the afternoon visit of a typical ladakhi village in the Leh valley sipping excellent chai with villagers.

Day 12

Leh - Delhi

Early morning flight to Delhi. On arrival check—in at hotel and visit at the impressive Akshardham Temple complex and to the Baha’i House of Worship popularly known as the Lotus Temple due to its flower like shape. Free time at disposal for personal activities.

Day 13

Delhi - Back Home

Breakfast at hotel and transfer to Delhi airport in time to board the return flight home and at last your prayers in the wind Ladakh is over .
